In early 1968, Mike decided he wanted to record at the famous Nashville studios of which his idols made sweet country crooners. Though he only was there for a week, the material he brought to the session musicians was nothing short of amazing. Staples of his repertoire like Propinquity and Some Of Shelly’s Blues were dusted off for the first time and given fresh arrangements. Need I even point out one of the tracks is Listen To The Band?
These tracks have sadly not been collected together in one place yet, on any official Monkee product. I see it as my goal to provide a hypothetical 2-disc box set celebrating Papa Nez at a creative peak.
