From the moment Changes was released, The Monkees had effectedly ended an entire wave of their career. Generations of people have worshipped, loved, adored, and appreciated their musical output from 1966 to 1970. Countless compilations have been made, each one attempting to encapsulate some of the “later period” material into the tracklists.
To be frank, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I love songs like Admiral Mike and Gettin’ In, but they don’t fit next to anything from the 60s. It’s just different music from different times. As such, i’ve taken it upon myself to compile what I feel is the best of The Monkees’ musical output from 1970 to 2016, be it together or solo.
These 50 songs represent….well, it’s good music. Go check it out! :)

ReplyDeleteGreat list, although many of these are solo tracks and not Monkees per se but I appreciate the spirit (and I may build this play list myself 😏
